The Future Sound Of Valyermo
In the beginning of my third? fourth? age of musical ‘chapter’s, I was very strongly inspired/imprinted (i.e. BLOWN THE F*** AWAY) by ‘The Future Sound Of London’s’ incredible mixtapes of ‘other peoples music’. Here, I try to create that ‘vibe’ through a series of ‘recombinant’ mix/mashes of ‘historical’ ambient material on the ‘Virgin’ label. ‘Trios’ are formed and ‘morphed’ from multiple and simultaneously played tracks to create something utterly new, unique (by definition) and hopefully ‘entertaining’

Jesus Christ! Paint Your Volkswagon
‘Jesus Christ! Paint Your Volkswagon’ (Various ‘Krautrock’ Artists versus Maurice Kagel)
A ‘Faust(ian)’ take on the idea of a ‘mixtape’, with an extra ‘nod’ to the Greek ‘Chorus’, 50′s/60′s musicals (‘crackers’ versus ‘hippies’!), and the late, great, Mr. Zappa.
The title was the spontaneous impression (after the mix was completed) of the combined ‘tone’ of the various dubs…early childhood memories of my exposure to the “original’ UK production of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’ (a dark, ‘boxy’ sound), simultaneously reacting with the ‘cat calls’ of an onstage ‘chorus’ (provided by the Kagel dubs), recalling to me the more traditional musicals like ‘Paint Your Wagon’ BUT also causing the visual of a Harry Partch ‘Greek’ staging and reference to a Greek Chorus as the ‘narrative device’ tying it all together. Thus, given the Krautrock sources, the title.
Dedicated to Arnold Saknussemm.
