Sounddrops (Drum Edition)

Polyrhythm drum tracking experiments result in something between Tom Waits junkyard slo mo and ‘Motorik’ pulsations.

Dust Ist Kreig

Phonography played (cooly). Laminar recordings of my own improv were then ‘played’ through a virtual radio tuner and finally combined with ‘dusty’ ambiance’s.

Crop Circle Drums

The plotting of ‘Crop Circles’ to drum loops via ‘csound’ graphical map coding to granular/fft  audio space…abstract beat science communications with…THEM???

The Haunted Closet

“the paradoxical state of the spectre, which is neither being nor non-being”

The idea suggests that the present exists only with respect to the past, and that society after the end of history will begin to orient itself towards ideas and aesthetics that are thought of as rustic, bizarre or “old-timey”; that is, towards the “ghost” of the past.

Deep Axon Alchemy

The virtual ‘unboxing’ of Audio Damage’s new piece of kit, ‘Axon’, turns into a mini-set of Paul Shutze-inspired jams. Kore bus FX include Deep Transformations/Reconstructions/Frequencies, and synths by Alchemy and Absynth. Pleasant tangerine dreams.

Jazz Free Jazz

Back when I got my first ‘high end’ sampler (the Casio FZ-1 16 bit stereo sampler for $2400 in 1989, a definite upgrade from my previous Casio SK-1 :D), the very first thing I did was remix some ‘free jazz’ vinyl records I had been digging. In memorial, I here then present a re-visit to that ‘vibe’, albeit this time via a ‘virtual’ sampler approach.

Elektro-Acoustik Architektures

An abstract radio wave /transmissions set, based on photographic/pictorial art objects transformed into sound AND modulated drum/percussion abstracted per AM/FM/UHF waveform genetics/envelopes, as arrived via live granular and spectral engine live looping processes (Metasynth 5 + Galbanum’s ‘Architectural Waveforms 2010’).

A tip and a nod to ‘Moebius/Roedelius’, Krautrock, Rastor Noton artists in general, and the Japanese electronic experimentalists.

Or more appropriately, a ‘pair of’ Peter Dine’s ‘Paramdrum’ Reaktor ensembles, here as loop players (as opposed to the intended single hit probability drum machine). Special thanks Peter Dines for the inspirational programming and support 😉

A decidedly ‘wonky’ take on 50’s electronics, lo-fi, lo-brow circuit bending, avant garde turntablism collage, and IDM beatologies.

(A ‘cornucopia’ of vintage electronic recordings and vintage impulse ‘re-amping’ simulation/combinations were also accessed and applied in this essentially ‘live duo’ configuration via Audio Ease’s ‘Speaker Phone 2’).

Laminal Looping Spectralisms

Birth, breath, breathe…spectral excertions of quiet intensity counting away. Impetus meets inertia via live looping cross synthesis technique. Admit or emit. Dedicated to my father (and his lungs)
