High Desert Radiophonics

Doctor Who discovers even the TARDIS can’t get reception out here! A sonic profile of the/my high desert…from the biting of fire ants, danger of ceptic flooding, to the ‘Close Encounters’ epic atmospheric light shows of sudden dry storms and their havoc on human systems of communication (and their UNEXCEPTABLE interruption to HBO programming whilst they again kill off main characters !) An acousmatic program  of life between swollen crickets, hairy tinnitus, and scat of a most coyote nature.

Filaments and Clumps

As a result of gravitational and thermal instability in the gas disk, clumpy fluctuations evolve, and then the clumps merge and form filamentary structure in the nonlinear phase. Higher density clumps are formed in the filaments as a result of the gravitational instability or collisions between the filaments. Numerical model of star formation allows the evolution of the blast waves due to supernovae explosions in the rotating, inhomogeneous, multiphase, and turbulent-like media.

Shamanic Dismemberment

“During the evening’s first journey, the Power Animal told me, “Ahem!  Yes, you!  It’s time for a dismemberment!”  So, after One Person’s healing journeys, the group drummed for me.

In a shamanic dismemberment, your Power Animals and other spirit-plane allies take you apart, right down to the bone or further, especially removing anything troublesome.  Scary, painful?  No, but the absolute glee that Power Animals bring to this task can be unnerving.  They like taking us apart.

Midpoint, reaching the skeleton stage, stand up and dance!  However loose-limbed and shaky, being liberated from ordinary form is ecstatic.  But the dancing mood soon departs…lay back down then for more stripping away.  Soon, wind whistles through hollow bones.  Dust amid the stars.  Nada-ness.

And then, re-membered.  Power Animals put you back together, sweetly and with such tenderness, leaving out anything that hasn’t been serving you well.  Emerge from the journey feeling… new.

Shamanic dismemberment removes the obvious stuff to aim for, but also removes the real crap you can’t see clearly: Your own limiting attitudes and beliefs.  And it really reinforces the bonds of trust between you and your spiritual allies.  This is a strange, exquisite form of healing.”

Dreaming Of The Engineers

Ancient extraterrestrials kick-start life on earth with some sort of apparently animate black goo as its vehicle; humans decode signs from ancient and indigenous art and artefacts; there are big round spaceships buried underground that heave out of the earth at inopportune moments; super-rich, super-selfish humans try to manipulate the situation for their own gain even as the fate of mankind is in jeopardy …and don’t eat chocolate ice cream before going to bed!

Percussion Scapes Volume 3

The ‘series’ of experiments continues, this time utilizing the Defective Records software version of the ‘Klee’ sequencer under external generative influences.

“…In fact, programming a Klee sequence is an exercise in the unpredictable. The programmingpots interact with each other according to the Klee pattern driving them, and the Klee patternitself is as instantly changeable as programming a pot. Some changes will shift your Kleesequence in a slightly different direction, while some changes may shift the flow of things onehundred eighty degrees. In fact, the Klee gets its name from this concept. When the first modelwas designed, programming it was compared to molding a sculpture out of very loose clay. Some time after that statement, Romeo Fahl built a version of the first Klee model, and named it the Klee (which is pronounced ‘clay’) both in recognition of the “loose clay” description and in honor of the artist Paul Klee, whose work often, somehow, reflects the abstract nature ofprogramming a Klee sequencer and many of the sequences it’s been known to produce.”

Various percussion sounds include Applied Acoustics Systems ‘Chromaphone’ and the inspired sound designs of Simon Stockhausen’s ‘Cardinals’.
