A Hypnagogic Holo Core House Of Shards

Hypnagogia is the experience of the transitional states to and from sleep: the hypnagogic and the hypnopompic states of consciousness. The related words from the Greek are agōgos “leading, inducing”, pompe “act of sending”, and hypnos “sleep”.

A “Vaporwave” Mix

Inspired by the writings and podcasts/mixtapes of Adam Harper…

Using a set pool of samples and a mapped procedural FX approach, an attempted ‘mixtape’ in the style of my take on’Vaporwave’.

The Dusty DNA of Dr. Caligari

Mechanical music box Gamelan hymns.

Antique musical machines meet Celemony Melodyne’s ‘DNA’ technology for a re-scaling session of dissonant intervalic reinterpretations and dusty flavorings suitable for the good Doctor’s bad ‘practice’. Extra old fairy dust patina courtesy of Audio Ease’s ‘Speakerphone’.

Smithsonian Folkways – An Xtreme Re-conceptualization

Four ‘medleys’ of very ‘extreme’ avant garde inspired remixes/improvs via Onkyokei
aesthetics. A virtual re-amping, pitch-to-audio, and other silly trickery of various ‘Folkways’ ethnic albums (1950’s~).

Only the above mentioned original ‘ethnic’ album tracks (via processing) are used here, no other performance or synthesis present.

Onkyokei (translation: “sound, noise, echo”) places much more emphasis on sound texture than on musical structure, distilling elements of techno, noise, and electronic music into a unique hybrid.

Track/Medley One – Old school ‘Glitchshifting‘ improv’s/meditations

Track/Medley Two – ‘100 tap delay*’ processes (in duo form)

Track/Medley Three – Audio-to-pitch synthesis into unusual spectralisms (in duo form)

Track/Medley Four – wrap up/final minutes of Track/Medley Three

Two ‘Master Track Player’ Index Pages Added

Collected my various ‘Avant Garde Mash Ups’ and Loopy C ‘Plays’ tracks together as consolidated sources/pages:

Avant Garde Mash-Ups Master Track Player Index

Loopy C ‘Plays’ Master Track Player Index

(also visible to right in ‘sidebar’ under ‘Pages’)

These are rebuilds of pages from my former blog (at blogger), I will slowly be updating the accompanying info but for now all the track player links should be active for ‘Discover/Encounter’ sessions 🙂

Also note that the page of ‘Master Players’ allows access to EVERY track on this site, (whether it currently has it’s own dedicated post or not):

Xtreme reMixxxes

A collection of misc DSP abused pop artifacts. Conceptually, the Beatles ‘Revolution #9’ meets V/VM.

Classic Rock/Pop fodder including Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, America, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Black Sabbath, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Bily Joel, The Doors, and an endless cast of audio charactitures. If it’s ‘classically’ recognizable, I have failed 😉

Last One Out – (another Be@tles reMixxx)

Beatles, Reaktor, +

First pass prototypes. Design brief as follows:

Explore and create tracks from the last second(s) of the first two Beatles albums. Use Cubist, Impressionist, and other various abstract art concepts in technique development for the expansion of these last second(s) onto a larger ‘canvas’,  a sonic painting of time and mood.

Bonus…vintage analog hiss! Amazing what is in those last seconds, untouched by those resident label Illuminati of sonoric cleanliness 🙂

Technical notes:

This last second(s) was ‘framed and scoped’ using ‘Jambient’ and ‘Plasma’ ensemble variations to create initial tapestry. Then these ‘weaves’ were plied and stretched as ‘duos’ and trios’, the ensembles (musically speaking) developed and configured as ‘valid groupings’ per their multiples of time and pitch ranges of regular? instrumental combos choices…spectrally speaking.

Billy (J)oel ‘Bytes’

A nod to the great John Oswald and his ‘Plunderphonics’ (here represented in a slightly more ‘chunky’ form). A ‘by key byte tour’ through Mr. (J)oel’s greatest errr…bytes? (no worries Bill, I love you just the way I edited you :))

At this point, these are my ‘first pass’ versions and I will probably do some further ‘cleaning’. As each original file provided here in 7:00 min excerpts was over 20 minutes (being that my original manifesto was to use EVERY byte of original songs) I needed a break for now!

*(A)bba* Sounds (An extreme remix project)

An extreme interpretation  based on the ‘*(A)bba*’ boxset.

Explorations into everything from ‘insect’ to ‘motorik’ possibilities of this ‘guilty pleasure’ pop group. Each final track based solely on one single and exclusive track from the boxset with no additional material other than laptop DSP.

A ‘sound design rabbit hole’ if you will 😉

The (B)urt (B)acharach Box Sessions

Garrard Turntable

Playing again in the territory of turntablists (and NWW mutants)…a contemplation on my own mother’s ‘playlist’ influence (back when ‘playlist’ meant a stack of vinyl on a ‘Garrard Automatic Turntable’ while she was vacuuming).

Dedicated to both my mom and ‘Andrew Now’ (don’t know what to do Andy!)
