Torn Out Pages, Lost Thoughts (2011)

Rummaged from uncompleted thoughts, half-mixes, and incomplete conceptual threads…a collage from the ends and remnants of my 2011 hard drive.

Shut up, He Explained

A return to an inherent obtrusiveness of mine via ‘free splice’ improv compositions. Made of unfolding folders and purposefully misfiled/misplayed audio files, broken mobius looping harmonies attempt to obscure meters in favor of micro tempo/temper changes.

Lateral reference to Frank Zappa’s Synclavier System work applied/combined with impressions of the producer known as ‘Hefner’, in a ‘wonky’ and eventually aggressive manner of some modern ‘glitch-funk’ aesthetic? Or maybe just ‘note-sterbations’ here in the desert  😉

…in four parts.

Two ‘Master Track Player’ Index Pages Added

Collected my various ‘Avant Garde Mash Ups’ and Loopy C ‘Plays’ tracks together as consolidated sources/pages:

Avant Garde Mash-Ups Master Track Player Index

Loopy C ‘Plays’ Master Track Player Index

(also visible to right in ‘sidebar’ under ‘Pages’)

These are rebuilds of pages from my former blog (at blogger), I will slowly be updating the accompanying info but for now all the track player links should be active for ‘Discover/Encounter’ sessions 🙂

Also note that the page of ‘Master Players’ allows access to EVERY track on this site, (whether it currently has it’s own dedicated post or not):

2008 Blog Favorites Remix Round-ups

As a post modern private tradition, my year end  ‘interpretations’ (i.e. remixes) of several favorite mp3 blogs. Given the ‘treatment’ I present:

Disquiet Blog Remix

Shining star auetuer of avant and amphetamine ambient noise. Disquiet: reflections on ambient/electronic music, and interviews with the people who make it.

Continuo Blog Remix

Continuo Blog: Reassessed aural delicacies. Secret museum territory for those explorers of the crevices and edges of post modern recordings.

The Cookshop Blog Remix

The Cookshop Blog: Ample food for stupid thought . A haunted ‘The Shining’s Loyd The Bartender’ New Year’s ‘after midnight’ dream remix, for  long distance  creative osmosis lodge host  ‘doru649’.

As I am used to always playing live on 12/31/?? up until a few years ago (going back 30+ years!), this is my way of still getting that musical rush/fix to announce the next year’s cycle beginning. All ‘mixes’ were performed live on the ‘evening of’ with no post edits (other than volume adjustment).

Dedicated to the world wide webbing of musical illuminati that ‘keep the fire’, whether inhaled via binary packets or forced through organ pipes unto wordpress snares 😉

Xtreme reMixxxes

A collection of misc DSP abused pop artifacts. Conceptually, the Beatles ‘Revolution #9’ meets V/VM.

Classic Rock/Pop fodder including Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, America, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Black Sabbath, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan, Bily Joel, The Doors, and an endless cast of audio charactitures. If it’s ‘classically’ recognizable, I have failed 😉

Oscillators Made Of ‘Joiners’

Audio photocollage in the vein of David Hockney’s ‘joiners’.  A joiner consists of a series of photographs taken from different viewpoints, arranged (overlapping) to form a single piece. By taking the pictures from carefully selected viewpoints, and arranging them in the right way, Hockney was able to change the apparent shape of space and introduce the element of time into the work.

Here, layered time, space, and narrative is attempted through a mathematical presentation of ‘chunks’ and layers of sound bytes in a vein related to Cubist concerns. The challenge is then of two ears (as opposed to two eyes in Cubist theory) in slightly different moments of time.

The above image is probably the most well known of Hockney’s ‘Joiners; and in a bit of fate happens to been created only miles from where I presently live!
